Attention MOPAR fans... 1964 Dodge Polara - Painting Project - Post 2

This was a fairly quick-turn job for us.  Jeff, the owner, had done MOST of the body work on this car.  We just did a final sanding, blocked and primed a few problem areas and painted her.  It came out real nice... can hardly wait to see it all put together Jeff!  Have an enjoyable Memorial Day Weekend!
Here the Jambs are getting masked off before the car is rolled into the booth
In the booth getting the final "wipe-down"
On goes the color....Lots and lots of Chrysler K5 Burnt Orange
Fresh out of the booth with a nice coat of clear!
All ready for the ride home... and hours of assembly
Glad you like your car Jeff!

Attention MOPAR fans... 1964 Dodge Polara - Painting Project - Post 1

Jeff Bickler has poured a lot of hours and love into this 1964 Dodge Polara.  It was dropped off this week to get the final glaze, sand and a coat of Burnt Orange Metallic Paint.  His hope is to have this car assembled within 2 weeks, and in the Back To The 50s show at the MN State Fairgrounds this summer.

1970 Maverick Project - Post 2

Bill finalized the sanding, smoothing, glazing, blocking, priming, blocking, priming, sanding....... this week.  The car went into the booth yesterday and we're all really pleased with how the Dodge Viper Bright Orange  Metallic looks on the car.  The panels came our really straight!  We can't wait to see this car all put together and on the Hot Rod Power Tour this summer!
Here's the car in the booth getting a final "wipe-down" before paint.
Bill was pretty proud of his handy work... as well you should be Bill... the car looks GREAT!

1970 Maverick Project - Post 1

Hi all!  We took in this 1969.5/1970 Maverick a few weeks ago.  The paint on the car was original and it was in pretty good shape.  It was just a little "tired" from 40 years of dings, dents and "war wounds" as the customer put it.  This car is a daily driver but will be going on the hot rod power tour!  It has a custom built 302 V8 bored and converted to a 343 stroker by PHP Racing (currently out of the car obviously).  It will also have a Tremec 5-speed transmission.  Our body guy Bill is putting a lot of love and care into straightening all the panels out.  Here's some photos of the car so far:
This is what the car looked like when they dropped it off.
Not bad for 40 years old!
Bill starting to sand off the old paint, down to bare metal
Glazing, filling and sanding low and high spots begins
After many hours of glazing, filling, sanding, etc.  They start masking the car for primer
Here's the car with it's first coat of primer.
The primer will then be blocked/sanded and re-applied
Check back soon!

1968 Mustang Coupe - Post 3

We painted Brandon's 1968 Mustang on Friday 5.14.10.  The car turned out awesome.  It will be so fun to see it all together.  Brandon was excited to get it home and finish the final assembly, glass, interior install, wheel, tire and brake upgrade, bumper install and more.  Please check back as we hope to have pictures of this car posted when it's ALL done.  In the mean time, feel free to stop by Brandon's restaurant in Victoria for a sandwich and see how his car is coming along...
Click here to check out Brandon's restaurant.
Here the guys are doing the final "wipe down" on the car to remove dust and any chemicals
Mixed Charcoal Grey Metallic Paint on the shaker.
Primer/sealer being sprayed on the car.
Then the color goes down.
Then the clear coat - Brandon then swung by when we opened the booth, after the bake-cycle.
More coming soon...
