Fleet Repair - Reconditioning a 1991 GMC Top Kick Dump Truck

We do a lot of fleet vehicle repair at Chanhassen Maaco.  We took in this 1991 GMC Top Kick Dump truck this week.  The company wanted to get a couple more years out of it and it was looking pretty "tired".
After we picked up the truck, we sent it out to have the dump box sandblasted to remove all the rust and peeling paint.
Here's the truck right after it came back from the sandblaster

1968 Mustang Coupe

We recently took in this 1968 Mustang Coupe.  The owner has spent the last few years getting it ready for paint, and has asked us to do the final touches.  When customers tell us they've done their own body work, we never know what we're going to get... this car was PRETTY well done actually!  We just need to re-block the whole car, fill in a few low/high spots, prime it and paint paint it.  The car is an 6 cyl 4 spd. car.  The engine has been completely rebuilt.  Once we're done with it, the car will get a new interior, rims, tires and trim.  Check back for updates on this car.

Mustang Cobra Convertible Reborn

We always love to hear feedback from our customers.  We recently did some reconditioning work on this 1997 Mustang Cobra Convertible.  The car was in pretty good shape but the paint was starting to dull and the top was worn out.  Charlie Werdin (the owners son) sent this picture over the other day and we think it turned out pretty good (both the car AND the picture Charlie).  We're so glad you like it.

Here's a picture of the car in process.  We stripped, primed and sealed the hood and scuffed the entire car before it got it's coat of new base/clear black paint.  We send the car out to have a new top put on it.  The original top was tan in color.  The owner (Jim) decided to go black this time, and we think it looks pretty sweet!  We hope you guys have fun in your "new" convertible this summer!

1931 Model A Pickup - Loaded Up and Ready to Go!

Please check back!  We'll post some more pictures when it's all put together!  Tim hopes to have it in a 4th of July parade this summer!

1931 Model A Pickup - post 15 - FINAL PAINT - Off to Menomonie for assembly

We've been looking forward to this post for a while!  The 1931 Model A received it's final coat of paint on Friday last week.  Tim from Menomonie, WI came to pick up his truck parts on Saturday.  He was like a little boy in a candy store.  We can hardly wait to post pictures of this truck all put together Tim!

Here's the cab right before it's final coat of primer
Other "black" parts primed and ready for black paint
Parts hung on racks and ready for black paint

Red parts hung and ready for red paint (paint was matched to a chip from an old Ford paint book).  Tim wanted to keep the truck original.  The paint color is true to what was offered on Ford trucks in 1931 (Rubellite Red).  The color will be the same, however, paint technology has been vastly improved since 1931.  We will be using base/clear or two-stage, base coat-clear coat paint.  The clear coat will allow the surface to be buffed to a higher shine, and will also allow the owner to buff/sand small scratches from the surface in the event wear happens over time.

On Saturday, we mounted the doors to the cab, then built a wood frame on the trailer and bolted the cab and box to the frame for transport.
